Reflections

Same Room, Different Thoughts.

A week or two ago I wrote that I had gone quiet but was still building. I never really said what building looked like. So here it is.

I put up a whole AI section. I started an Ideas section for the projects that have been sitting in my head too long. I changed the homepage, not all of it, just enough, because I do not feel like the person who wrote the first version anymore.

There is an app almost finished as well, the first one I will put out for anyone to use, not just a client or two.

That is the part that caught me.

When this started, it was a diary. I was writing to myself, quietly, not sure what I was doing or where any of it was going. I hoped something would come of it. I did not know what.

Now I am putting things out loud. Talking about AI, about what I am making, about the ideas I actually believe in. And I can hear the difference in my own voice. A bit more certainty. A bit less hiding. I did not plan that. It just showed up somewhere along the way, and I only noticed it reading my own words back.

I am not going to pretend it has all been forward.

A few days ago I sat here and, for a little while, I let the old answer talk. Go and find a better contract. Better money. Something safer than this. I know that voice well. It has run most of my life.

Then I told it no. Not because I am brave. Because I know exactly what a better contract would cost me. It would quietly take the time I spend on the thing I actually want to be doing, and call that being sensible.

I admire anyone who really never hesitates on their own road, chasing the thing they want. I am not going to pretend I am one of them. I hesitate, and I will hesitate again. And I am okay with that now.

Those thoughts are not going anywhere, I know that much. The difference is that this time there is already something behind me, something I have actually built, and that makes them far easier to hold than they were at the start. Even if, being honest, I have probably only just crossed the starting line.

When I get stuck, I have a small gym in the room now. Something I wanted for years and finally have. I am not chasing some bodybuilder photo, not at all. I just get up, move, stretch, let an idea untangle itself while my hands are busy. Then I sit back down. It works more often than it should.

The hard part is the quiet. It is not easy to find people on the same wavelength when most of your day happens inside one room and you are not exactly desperate to go outside. That one I have not solved.

So that is where I am. Not where I want to be. Not close. Spending far more time on this than is reasonable, and enjoying it more than anything I could swap it for.

I nearly traded it for the safe money, and I didn't.

Building. Not done.
